CSBA COVID Policies for In-Person Classes

Please see below for current policies and requirements for in-person classes. Please note these policies are subject to change.

  • VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS : Vaccination requirements have currently been lifted at both Playwrights Rehearsal Studios and Gibney Dance Studios.

  • STAY HOME IF YOU’RE SICK!  Please DO NOT send your child to class if they are sick or have tested positive with COVID-19.  You may schedule a make up class for your child in the case they must miss class due to illness or quarantine.

  • QUARANTINE POLICY: Please alert CSBA if your child or anyone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19 or has come into close contact with someone who has. Our current quarantine policy is as follows, following the NYC DOE policy:

    • Students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 must isolate for 5 days and can return to class on day 6 if they have no symptoms or symptoms are improving. They should wear a mask until day 10 after symptom onset or date of positive test, whichever is earlier. Masks may be removed during this period if the person has received two negative rapid tests 48 hours apart.

    • Get tested if exposed to COVID-19: Students and staff who are exposed to COVID-19 should get tested. These individuals should take two tests, at least 48 hours apart. All exposed individuals should monitor for fever and other COVID-19 symptoms for 10 days after their exposure. If symptoms begin, they should not attend class and should isolate and get tested for COVID-19 again right away.

  • MASK WEARING:  Masks are currently optional in our classes. Please note however that masking policies may shift to keep up with current Covid-19 transmission rates. CSBA reserves the right to shift these protocols as we see fit within the guidelines of our studio locations. When required, children’s masks must fit securely to their faces, with hair securely pulled back.

  • CHECK-IN: The Gibney Studios may still require a check-in through their check-in app.

  • DROP OFF/PICK UP:  Please limit congregation to 10 minutes before and after each class. Please, absolutely no late pick-ups.

  • SOCIAL DISTANCING:  All visitors are expected to follow social distancing guidelines in all common areas of the building.  Please be respectful and aware of those around you.  Class sizes will adhere to standard guidelines to avoid over-crowding.

  • DRESSING ROOM/RESTROOM PROTOCOL:  Whenever possible, students should avoid using the restrooms as changing rooms and instead arrive dressed in uniform under their street clothes.  Belongings and street clothes/shoes may be kept in the studio. Parents should take young dancers to use the restroom before class begins

  • SANITIZING:  Hand sanitizer will be provided in the studio.

  • VENTILATION:  Each of our studio locations has upgraded their filtering systems in accordance with NYS standards. Whenever necessary, studio windows will be opened to increase fresh air flow.

  • COVID-RELATED CLOSURES:  Should CSBA need to cancel in-person classes either temporarily or long-term due to positive COVID cases or government-imposed shutdowns, all affected in-person CSBA ballet classes will be held instead on Zoom.  No additional in-person make-up dates will be scheduled, and no refunds or credits will be issued.  CSBA will follow NYS guidelines for temporary and long-term closures.
